Remembering a name of a country is easy.
Brazil for example; famous for its World Cup trophies…
Swiss famous for its Alpine Mountains…
But to know ones country is not as simple as only knowing or remembering its name. Just like Indonesia with its diversified culture, every country has its own unique culture, which differentiates them from another. As the time goes flows by, culture seems to be forgotten little by little, blinded by the modern world technology which in fact attracts people who consumes it.
After all culture is a unique treasure that is owned by each country that needs to be kept and practiced forever. Now I’m living and studying in Russia, which has a completely different culture compared to Indonesia. For example; as friends meet with each other, they usually kiss chick to chick, meanwhile in my country that’s considered taboo.
My Indonesian culture is based on eastern culture, which is completely opposite to the culture that’s adopted by the majority in Russia that follows western cultures. It all depends to us human being on whether we are able to adapt to the environment surrounding us, of course it’s not easy, and also time consuming to adapt to a whole different culture.
I’ve been living in this country for approximately 5 years, in all those years I’ve learned a lot, especially about culture. Doesn’t mean that I will forget about my own culture, but now I can tell and differentiate what’s right to do and what’s wrong. is very hard to understand the characteristic of Russian people that’s completely different with ours , we need to be strong mentally in order to understand them. Small things such as smiling when you meet your friends sometimes don’t work here in Russia. Meanwhile we were educated since we were little to be polite to one another.
In Russia, just as any other European countries have 4 seasons; summer, fall, winter and spring. Meanwhile Indonesia is located in a tropical are that only have 2 seasons; rainy and dry season. That is why seeing snowflakes falling from the sky in winter times is quite a fascinating thing for me. Experiencing the temperature reaching 15 degree below zero is an unforgettable experience.
Fluctuation of emotions will exist when we are studying something that is completely new to us, as long as we can open our eyes for the brighter we will be able to receive it, and even apply it to our live.
Vice-versa, if we stay silent and isolate ourselves.
thx 2 little gory 4 the transleted ^^
